Must See Events to Watch Online in March 2023

March can often be the cruelest of months. Spring is just around the corner, but the wicked winds of winter still linger to keep us locked indoors. In this last blast of cold air, you will need plenty to keep you entertained. Below, we give the best new series, movies, and sports events that you can watch online in March 2023.

Cheltenham Festival

The Cheltenham festival is one of the biggest horse racing events in Britain. Held in Gloucestershire, England, it lasts for four days beginning on March 14th, 2023. The event is huge, with thousands of spectators descending on the course, who often combine it with some St Patrick’s day revelry. Even more place wagers online and watch from home, as it is a spectacle of the best horse, jockeys, and trainers. For those making a bet for the first time, there are four races you should concentrate on. These are the Queen Mother Champion Chase, Stayers Hurdle, Champion Hurdle, and arguably the most important race, the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Should you wish to bet on Cheltenham Festival, make sure you read up on the horses. Most bookmakers will provide you with their form, which informs you how well the horse has done in previous outings and if it has completed the course and distance before. You should also look at the jockey and the trainer, to see how well they have fared. Once you have checked the form, you can enjoy the racing. In the Gold Cup, eyes will be firmly on the favorite Galopin Des Champs at +150, along with close contender A Plus Tard at +750. However, it is not unknown for outsiders to win in such a large field. In 2014, Lord Windermere won at +2000. You can also look at outside bets, hoping to predict horses that come in second, third, and fourth place.

March Madness

If basketball is more your thing, then you can watch the NBA stars of the future fight it out in March Madness events. Every year in this month, the National Collegiate Athletic Association has its huge knockout tournament to see which team reigns supreme. Sixty-eight teams will play over three weekends in an instant elimination-style tournament. Only the sweet sixteen teams make it past the first weekend, which then narrows to the elite eight and the final four. Eventually, the grand final takes place between the two surviving teams. Squads with higher ratings generally play lower-seeded teams in the early rounds, although victory is never a given. Many teams take the chance to step up and it is quite common for David and Goliath moments to occur. This is where the tournament earns its madness moniker. So far, UCLA holds the record for the most wins with 11. Watching online is easy, but will depend on where you are located. Check online and you may need to sign up with a subscription service or local network provider.

The Mandalorian Season 3

It has been two and a half years since the last series of these intrepid galactic adventurers, though we have visited the character himself and his adopted child Grogu in The Book of Boba Fett. This series places the onus firmly back on the unlikely pairing and wraps up a lot of the unanswered questions left at the end of previous seasons. At the time of writing, only two episodes had been released. The first introduces some familiar faces such as Bo-Katan, as Din tries to reclaim his place as a Mandalorian. It is available to stream on Disney+.

Glasgow Film Festival

At the beginning of March, the Glasgow Film Festival takes place in this great Scottish city of arts and culture. Unlike the Oscars and big ceremonies, its choices for screening and nominations are often small independent movies and documentaries that fall under the radar. While you can’t watch it all online, you can stream the movies that it nominates and chooses to screen. Each year the events has several sections which it chooses the best movies from. The Audience Award is a good starting point, as it has ten handpicked movies that feature first or second-time directors. This year’s choices include Ramona, the tale of a messed-up millennial, coming of age story I Like Movies, and the family drama Lullaby. For documentary lovers, the focus is on the movies of Lee Grant. Blacklisted from Hollywood for 12 years, she returned to win a Best Supporting Actress Oscar.  Many of the movies selected are way ahead of their time and focus on domestic violence, trans rights, and women inmates in US prisons. For something less intense, you can indulge in its selection of Fright Fest horror movies events. Chosen from across the globe, movies like Irati and Smoking Causes Coughing are some gems you may have missed if you have only been watching western gore fests.

Succession Season 3

In the streaming age, there have been several series that have left an indelible mark on popular culture. Yet few have had the trials and tribulations of Succession, which casts a witty eye on a Rupert Murdoch-style family wrestling with an out-of-date media empire. If you haven’t been keeping up to date, you will hate every character in this drama but slowly find yourself rooting for them without any reason as to why. As well as the cutthroat antics, it also has a dark sense of black humor, making you giggle throughout. In season four, the Roy family returns with renewed vigor. No longer trying to become the top dog in their father’s eyes, the siblings are now united in overthrowing him after he cut them out of the company. It will be interesting to see how Tom and Shiv’s relationship lasts after the betrayal of last season and see how Greg’s character arc from theme park employee to one percenter turns out. It has been confirmed to be the last season, so hold onto your hats for some thrills and spills. There are many others events to watch. Streaming services often start to add their big hitters for the year in March after a lull in January and February. Get comfortable, get warm, and tune into your screens for a last thrill, as winter will soon be gone.
