The 2022 US Open: Betting Tips and What to Expect

The US Open is the last of the four Grand Slam tournaments on the tennis calendar. It takes place at Flushing Meadows in New York and all the leading players in the world are set to feature in the men’s and women’s singles events.

Played on hard courts, the US Open is one of the most popular betting events in tennis across the year. Here is a look at who has the best chance of lifting the trophies in New York in September.

Djokovic Can End the Year on a High

Twenty-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic has been successful in the US Open on three occasions. He was crowned the champion at Flushing Meadows in 2011, 2015 and 2018. He was also runner-up in 2007, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2021.

Djokovic is +140 in the latest tennis odds to prevail in the 2022 US Open. The Serbian missed a lot of tennis at the start of this year, so he should be much fresher than many of his opponents for the final Grand Slam of the season.

The 31-year-old has slipped down to number three in the world rankings, but he will be motivated to get back to the top of the ATP standings before the year is out. Victory in New York will help him do that.

Djokovic has shown at Wimbledon that his best game is returning. He missed out on the Calendar Grand Slam at the 2021 US Open after losing in the final to Daniil Medvedev, but he can make up for disappointment by going one place better this time around.

Maiden Grand Slam Win Can Arrive for Jabeur

2022 has been an excellent year for Ons Jabeur. She has shot up to number two in the world rankings. She claimed her first WTA 1000 title in the Madrid Open after beating Jessica Pegula in three sets.

The three-time WTA winner also prevailed in the German Open on grass, while she reached the final of the Charleston Open and Italian Open in what has proven to be the best season of her career so far.

Jabeur is now playing with full of confidence and a return to the hard courts in the USA can see her pick up more silverware. The best she has achieved so far in the US Open is the third round. Expect to see her go much further than that this year, with the title a strong possibility.

The Tunisian is as big as +2500 in the betting for the women’s singles title. She represents great value, as she is likely to be one of the highest seeds for the draw; which means her path to the final will be much easier than previous visits to Flushing Meadows.

When is the 2022 US Open?

The 2022 US Open takes place between August 29 and September 11 and this year’s competition will be the 142nd in history. The women’s final is scheduled for September 10, while 24 hours later, the men’s final concludes the tournament.

128 players will begin the men’s and women’s singles events. The winners of each of those finals will earn 2000 ranking points, along with the trophy and first prize.
